My film about David Lindsay, A Vast Shadow House, will screen at Unit 4 in Hawick, Scottish Borders, on 26th November. Showtime is 7pm, and tickets are available on the door. You can also reserve a seat by emailing projects@cornucopia.net. This will be the film’s first screening in the Borders, where Lindsay spent part of his childhood (he lived down the road in Jedburgh). The film explores Lindsay’s life and works, discussing Lindsay’s autodidact gnosticism, that he explored in novels like A Voyage to Arcturus, The Haunted Woman, and The Witch. The film features interviews with Alan Moore, Bernard Sellin, Gary K. Wolfe, and others.
Pictured is the first edition of Arcturus, published in September 1920 by Methuen (to largely uncomprehending and negative reviews). A copy with dustjacket will set you back a five-figure sum. I would take issue with ‘closes on a solemn note in the life after death.’ The copies I have (not firsts, obviously, although I do have a copy of the 1977 facsimile) don’t end ‘in the life after death.’ Had the person doing the cover not read the book?

Any chance of a London showing?
